Rams playoff picture: Updated seeding scenarios for L.A. in 2025 NFL bracket

The Rams removed all suspense in the NFC West in Week 17, with some help from three teams. Wins by the Bills, Vikings, and Commanders clinched the strength of victory advantage for L.A. over the Seahawks, punching the Rams’ ticket to the playoffs.

Week 18 is expected to be much quieter for L.A., as Sean McVay plans to rest key starters against the Seahawks in hopes of entering the playoffs as fresh as possible.

The Rams can’t be knocked out of the playoff, but they still have seeding at stake and don’t know their opponent for the wild-card round.

Here’s a guide to the Rams’ scenarios in Week 18 and all of their possible opponents.

Rams playoff picture

NFC West standings

Position Team Record
1 Los Angeles Rams 10-6
2 Seattle Seahawks 9-7
3 Arizona Cardinals 7-9
4 Chicago Bears 6-10

The Rams clinched the NFC West in Week 17 and eliminated the Seahawks, making Sunday’s game meaningless for both sides outside of seeding implications for L.A.

NFC playoff standings

Position Team Record
1 Detroit Lions 14-2
2 Philadelphia Eagles 13-3
3 Los Angeles Rams 10-6
4 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 9-7
5 Minnesota Vikings 14-2
6 Washington Commanders 11-5
7 Green Bay Packers 11-5

The Rams enter Week 18 as the NFC’s No. 3 seed, but they could slip to the No. 4 seed with a loss and a Buccaneers win over the Saints due to Tampa Bay’s conference record advantage.

The Vikings, Lions, Commanders, and Packers are all still potential wild-card opponents for the Rams.

If the season ended after Week 17, the Rams would host the Commanders in the wild-card round. Dropping to the No. 4 seed, however, would set up a matchup between L.A. and either the Vikings or Lions at SoFi Stadium. Should the Rams keep the No. 3 seed, it’s also possible for the Packers to slide back into the No. 6 seed.
