Matthew Stafford has come to a decision: he’s running it back.
According to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, the future Hall of Famer is set to return for at least another year, ending ongoing speculation following the Rams Divisional Round loss to Philadelphia only two weeks ago.

Preparing to enter his 17th season, Stafford is coming off a year that saw him throw for over 3,700 passing yards and 20 touchdowns, numbers that suggest he’s more than capable of playing at a high level.
However, only weeks away from turning 37, many wonder if the oft-injured quarterback would opt for retirement after suffering five sacks in the loss to the Eagles, including two fumbles.
Stats aside, the bigger elephant in the room remains Stafford’s contract.
Reaching the end of a reworked four-year, $160 million deal, the Rams’ front office must decide if they’ll embark on another season with Stafford under centre, or potentially look to retool through free agency or the draft.
The problem is a familiar one for the Rams after facing the same challenges at the end of the 2023 season.
As it stands, Stafford’s cap hits are $49.7 million and $53.7 million over the next two years, while the Rams stand to save $27 million should they choose to cut or trade him.
