Raiders opening door for reunion with wide receiver Hunter Renfrow

A little over one year after parting ways with him, the Las Vegas Raiders have interest in reuniting with wide receiver Hunter Renfrow.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the Raiders are hosting Renfrow for a free-agent visit on Friday. Rapoport adds that Renfrow has already held a visit with the Carolina Panthers.

“Comeback? Former Raiders WR Hunter Renfrow, who did not play football last year but is still just 29-years-old, is visiting his old team the Raiders today, per me and Tom Pelissero,” Rapoport wrote.

A former fifth-round pick of the Raiders in 2019, Renfrow spent all five of his NFL seasons with the team. He had a career year in 2021, posting 1,038 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.

Unfortunately, Renfrow wasn’t able to recreate that success in the years that followed, which led to the Raiders cutting him last March in what would have been the second year of his two-year, $32 million extension that was signed in 2022.

Renfrow should still have something left in the tank at 29 years old, but it remains to be seen how much he’ll be impacted by taking a full year off from the sport. The veteran wideout has been working out in preparation for a comeback.

The Raiders would be a solid fit for Renfrow. Las Vegas is currently short on wide receiver help and could use a slot receiver like Renfrow. Beyond that, the Raiders need to add a traditional No. 1 outside receiver to complement Brock Bowers and Jakobi Meyers.
