PSG star shares thoughts on Kylian Mbappe Club World Cup reunion

Paris Saint-Germain bagged a 2-0 win against Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals of the Club World Cup on July 5.

With this win, PSG are headed to the competition’s semifinals, where they are pitted against Real Madrid, and the match is slated for July 9 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

PSG have lost only one out of the five matches in this year’s Club World Cup. Real Madrid, meanwhile, are maintaining an undefeated run so far in the competition.

While the upcoming match is anticipated to be an intense one for both sides, it might be a bit more for PSG star Achraf Hakimi, who will be facing his boyhood club and his former teammate Kylian Mbappe.

Hakimi, who started his senior career with Real Madrid in 2016 and continued till 2020, shared his thoughts on meeting Mbappe in the Club World Cup showdown.

What did PSG star Achraf Hakimi say about facing Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe?

Hakimi mentioned having a ‘friendly chat’ with Mbappe at the beginning of the Club World Cup and stated that while he always wishes the best for the Frenchman, he will be focused on defending his team in the upcoming clash.

“I called him [at the beginning of the tournament], we had a friendly chat. He said he was feeling a bit under the weather, but now he’s 100% ready to play,” as per Tribuna.com.

“I didn’t really think about whether I’d be playing against Kylian, but I always wish him the best. As I’ve said before, he’s my good friend, and it’ll be great to meet him in the semifinal — but I’ll be defending my team’s colors, and that’s the most important thing.”

Hakimi and Mbappe have shared the pitch alongside each other for 109 matches in three years at PSG, making a total of eight joint goal participations.
