PSG star accepts offer to join Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce

Paris Saint-Germain have made it to the Club World Cup final after securing a stunning 4-0 win over Real Madrid in the semifinal on July 9.

PSG are now set to face Chelsea in the last stage of the competition on July 13 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

While the Parisians will be attempting to add to the list of trophies in the 2024/25 season, one of their stars, Marco Asensio, is reportedly set to part ways with PSG this summer.

Asensio arrived at the Parc des Princes from Real Madrid in 2023 and was loaned to Aston Villa in February for the remainder of the campaign. His current contract is valid until the summer of 2026.

The 29-year-old registered eight goals and one assist in 21 appearances for the Premier League club. Several reports suggested that there were chances of Asensio potentially making a permanent move to Aston Villa, but an agreement on personal terms could not be reached.

Asensio is said to be looking to join a club that can offer him regular minutes on the pitch time ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be hosted in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

And now, reports suggest that he is closing in on signing for Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce, which could help his chances of being included in the Spain national squad.

What’s next for PSG’s Marco Asensio and Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce?

Asensio has accepted an offer to sign for Turkish giants Fenerbahce this summer, according to Yagiz Sabuncuoglu. The Spaniard’s medical to join Jose Mourinho’s side has already been scheduled and will take place in Istanbul.

Fenerbahce have reportedly reached an agreement with PSG as well, and the transfer now only awaits official announcement.

Reports have also suggested that Fenerbahce are offering Asensio a similar salary to that of the offers he has received so far in the summer.
