After lifting their first-ever Champions League trophy, PSG have wasted no time shifting gears to the summer market.
The French champions have moved into pole position to sign Franco Mastantuono, the 17-year-old attacking midfielder from River Plate, beating Premier League giants like Chelsea and Manchester United in the chase for Argentina’s next big star.
Mastantuono, who has scored 7 goals and provided 4 assists in 19 matches for River this year, is already the youngest goalscorer in club history, breaking a record once held by Javier Saviola.
The Argentine, born in August 2007, will turn 18 in August 2025, making him eligible to sign a professional contract and move abroad.
According to Fabrizio Romano, PSG are in concrete talks with River Plate for the signing of Mastantuono.
He wrote on X, “Paris Saint-Germain will try to get the Franco Mastantuono deal done as talks have been ongoing for weeks. Nothing is sealed or agreed upon yet, but PSG will try to anticipate several top European clubs and sign the Argentinian gem. One to watch in the next days/weeks.

Meanwhile, TYC Sports reports PSG have reached personal terms with Mastantuono and are prepared to pay the £38 million [$51m] release clause in his contract.
River Plate, however, wants to keep the teenager until their season ends in December 2025. PSG are willing to meet that condition.

Mastantuono will appear in the FIFA Club World Cup in July for the Argentine side, and if he does well, it will potentially raise his stock further.
He joins a list of River graduates that includes Enzo Fernandez and Julian Alvarez, both of whom went on to win major honors in Europe.
