The Los Angeles Chargers have some decisions to make this offseason and one of the biggest will be what they choose to do with Joey Bosa.
One of the defensive leaders of the team, Bosa’s production has gone down in recent years and it is a known fact that the Chargers could save $25 million against the salary cap if they cut him this offseason. That will also be the case if they decide to trade him.
A team looking to acquire Bosa would be fully aware that the Chargers would likely be cutting him, so the price wouldn’t be high to pay. The Scouting Department at Bleacher Report put together an offseason trade guide for every team in the league and they proposed a deal in which the Philadelphia Eagles trade for Bosa. In return, the Chargers get just a fifth-round pick.
Proposed trade sends Joey Bosa to Eagles for a fifth-round pick
It’s not a lot to get back for a former first-round pick who is one of the best defensive players in team history, but the real prize is the money the Chargers save by cutting ties with Bosa. The Chargers will save that by just cutting Bosa. In this case, they would at least get a pick in return.

It would send Bosa to arguably the best defense in the NFL and give him a chance to be on a Super Bowl contender for years to come. There, he might just be a rotational pass-rusher at this stage in his career, but it is the type of aggressive move Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is known for.
The Chargers also have to figure out what to do with Khalil Mack this offseason, as he will be a free agent. It seems unlikely Mack and Bosa will both be back in L.A., so if this opportunity were to present itself, it seems as though the Chargers would need to strongly consider it.
