Proposed three-team trade would see Celtics land superstar forward for three-years, $70 million

The Boston Celtics have been on a slippery slope recently, losing a lot of games they shouldn’t have. Now, they are faced with a choice: keep doing what they’ve been doing, or shake things up. If they choose the latter, Celtics on SI’s Matt Levine has an idea; trade for Brooklyn Nets star forward Cameron Johnson.

It would be a three-team trade including the Orlando Magic, and look like this:

Celtics get: Cameron Johnson from the Nets and Garry Harris from the Magic

Nets get: Jett Howard, Cole Anthony, a 2025 first-rounder, a 2026 first-rounder, and a 2031 second-rounder from the Magic.

Magic get: Jrue Holiday from the Celtics

The Celtics get Johnson, who’s shooting 43% from three, which the C’s love to do. Also, they drop Holiday’s huge contract, and get a power forward, which shifts stars like Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Derrick White back to their original positions.

And, if they decide to bring Johnson off the bench, the jump to stardom from Payton Pritchard could easily fill Holiday’s void.

Hopefully, the Celtics consider this trade, as they need to figure out something and fast, as they are one bad series away from missing out on a second trip to the NBA Finals in two years.
