The Las Vegas Raiders should be in the market for a wide receiver in 2025, and that’s especially true if they land their quarterback of the future in April’s draft, something that seems likely to happen.
The Raiders saw their wide receivers room shortened earlier this season when they sent star wideout Davante Adams to the New York Jets in a trade. Fellow wideout Jakobi Meyers stepped up in his absence, as did tight end Brock Bowers, but Las Vegas still needs to add more help in the offseason.
One NFL analyst, The 33rd Team’s Tyler Brooke, thinks the Raiders could be a suitor for Miami Dolphins superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill, should he become available. Brooke suggests a trade that would send Miami a 2025 third-round pick and a 2025 fifth-round pick.
Assuming that the Las Vegas Raiders take Shedeur Sanders in the 2025 NFL Draft, they’re going to want to surround him with as much talent as possible.
The Raiders offense features an ascending star tight end in Brock Bowers and a steady presence at receiver in Jakobi Meyers. However, the Raiders don’t have an offensive weapon that can stretch the field vertically.
Sanders has thrived at the college level with the deep ball. According to Pro Football Focus, he has thrown 13 touchdowns with zero interceptions for a 133.0 passer rating when throwing 20-plus yards downfield this season. Hill hasn’t had the opportunity to be nearly as consistent as a deep threat this season, with the Dolphins scheme focused on getting the ball out as fast as possible.
That Sanders-Hill connection could give the Raiders offense some much-needed juice. The Raiders have an extra third-round pick from the Adams trade, so they could afford to give up one of their third-round picks with an extra Day 3 selection on top of it to acquire a star receiver for their likely first-round quarterback.
There has been speculation of late that Hill might want out of Miami, with most of that speculation stemming from a tweet that Hill sent out recently.
It’s time for me to go coach
— Ty Hill (@cheetah) December 18, 2024
The frenzy surrounding Hill’s tweet is completely overblown. Some took that as a public demand to his coach; however, the lack of a comma in between “go” and “coach” means Hill is literally suggesting he should become a coach, whether kidding or not.
Is it possible Hill just left out the comma by accident? Sure, but it’s highly unlikely he would go about demanding out of Miami in this fashion.
Whatever the case may be, it’s very possible Hill will be on the Raiders’ radar if he is available via trade. He would be a fantastic weapon to add for a young signal-caller, and the Raiders have the money to absorb what’s left of his $90 million contract.
Granted, Hill is coming off a down season and will be 31 in March, but he has also been playing through an injury, which might be behind his struggles. Furthermore, Hill is only under contract through 2026, so he wouldn’t be a long-term commitment.
If Hill ends up on the trade block in the offseason, the Raiders should absolutely be interested in his services.
