Premier League winger keen on joining Chelsea from rivals

There are only a few games left until the Premier League and the European football season come to an end, but Chelsea still have to play for.

The Blues have made it to the final of the UEFA Conference League and are still in the race to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

But regardless of whether they achieve these objectives or not, Chelsea are set for a busy transfer window with both incomings and outgoings in equal measure.

One of the names that has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge is Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho. Chelsea tried securing his services in the January transfer window and though they failed to do so, they still maintain an interest in the winger.

According to a report by The Chelsea Chronicle, the Blues are still interested in the winger and will try to sign him in the upcoming summer transfer window. More importantly, the Argentine international is also keen on a move to Stamford Bridge.

Journalist Graeme Bailey told the Chelsea Chronicle, “Garnacho is very much still on Chelsea’s radar – they are looking for someone to operate from that left side and they have done work on a lot of names. I am told that the three at the top of their list are currently Jamie Gittens, Nico Williams and Garnacho.”

“Williams is tough and to be honest, I think as it stands is unlikely to come to England and if he does, am not sure Chelsea are top of his list. Gittens is different, we know Chelsea are working on him, we know they are in talks and trying to do something, but they are not alone with Arsenal also in the mix.

“And Chelsea are not set on one target, and Garnacho is someone they like a lot, they tried to sign him in January. They know the player is keen on the move. And he is a huge talent, they think he would be a good fit. He seems to have been around forever, but he is still just 20.”

“Can you imagine a Garnacho, Palmer and Estevao trio behind their striker… Chelsea’s hierarchy clearly can.”

Why Garnacho to Chelsea makes sense

Chelsea are reportedly in the market for a right-footed winger to play on the left wing and see Garnacho as a possible option in that role. During his time at United, Garnacho has excelled at playing on the left wing from where he can either cut inside or make a run down the touchline.

More importantly, if Chelsea do manage to sign Garnacho from Argentina, they would manage to significantly deplete one of their closest rivals while strengthening their own attacking Arsenal.
