Liverpool have had a busy summer transfer window until now. They have snapped up three major signings with the fourth one also on the way.
The Reds have already welcomed star players like Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez moving to Anfield. But the Premier League champions are far from done.
Liverpool have hit a roadblock in contract extension talks with Ibrahim Konate, who played a big role in helping them win the league title last season.
According to reports in Spain, Real Madrid are keen on signing the Frenchman, and so he is running down his contract to reunite with Trent Alexander-Arnold in Madrid.
Therefore, the Reds are securing their future by moving for a defender and they have identified Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi.
The 24-year-old has only a single year left on his contract, which makes things trickier for Palace as they are bound to sell the defender.

As per recent reports via Nicolo Schira, Guehi has accepted personal terms with Liverpool. The 24-year-old is ready to sign a five-year contract with the Reds.
He is reportedly pushing for a move to join the English champions, as Liverpool are trying to sort out a deal with Crystal Palace.
How much could Liverpool pay for Marc Guehi?
Crystal Palace had earlier slapped a £50m [$68.6m] price tag for their skipper, who guided them to the FA Cup title last season with a win over Manchester City in the final.
However, according to reports, Liverpool are adamant that they are not willing to match Palace’s lofty pricetag for Guehi. They would settle for anything in the region of £30-40m.
With a year left in his current contract, Palace are forced to cash in on the 24-year-old or else they may run the risk of losing him for free next summer.
Recently, Liverpool have sold Jarrell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen for £35m with a buyback clause.
Therefore, they are desperate to bring another defender to the heart of the defence to add depth to their roster.
Guehi has Premier League experience and is also a regular for the England national team. So he would be a much better depth option for Liverpool than Quansah.
With Virgil van Dijk not getting younger and uncertainty around Konate’s future, Guehi could be a vital player for Liverpool if the move materialises.
