Chelsea are reportedly on the verge of signing Ajax’s Jorrel Hato and he may not be the only defender the Blues sign in August.
As per the most recent update, Hato to Chelsea is effectively a done deal, with official confirmation almost complete between the two clubs.
Once an agreement for the Dutch defender is wrapped up, Enzo Maresca is on course to switch focus to Xavi Simons at RB Leipzig, with transfer talks ongoing on Hato’s international teammate.
If both of those deals are completed with minimum issue, Chelsea will then aim to bring in a central defender, as a final act of the summer market.
Chelsea have been consistently linked with a move for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi with the England international open to a Stamford Bridge return.
With Guehi only having one year left on his contract at Selhurst Park, Chelsea are confident of a reduced deal.

Crystal Palace slap ÂŁ40m price tag on Marc Guehi
Guehi has established himself as one of the most consistent centre-backs in the Premier League in recent seasons but the 25-year-old wants to test himself on the European stage.
Chelsea are rumoured to have already made contact with Guehi’s agents over a potential move to Stamford Bridge and BBC Sport are claiming the Blues could land their man for just £40m [$52m].
However, Chelsea are not the only club that are interested in signing Guehi in the final weeks of the summer window with rivals Liverpool, Tottenham and Newcastle United also tracking him.
