Premier League fixtures 2025/26: Opening day, rival games & other key TV dates as new schedule is released

In exciting news for all the soccer fans, the much-awaited schedule of the new season of the English Premier League (EPL) 2025/26 has finally arrived. 

Each year the fixture release schedule takes place, marking the countdown to England’s premier football competition. Even this time, with fresh faces, transfers, and new storylines, fans’ expectations have been kept much higher.

The new season is just two months away, and the anticipation has already been high for the clash. The schedule for 2025/26 was released on Wednesday, June 18, revealing the fixtures for all the 20 participating clubs this season. The opening weekend of this new season is going to be fire and ice, bringing some blockbuster matches for all the soccer fans. 

In the 2025/26 season, the defending champions, Liverpool, will kick off their title defense with a thriller clash against Bournemouth at Anfield on Friday, August 15.

The second clash of the EPL 2025/26 season will see Aston Villa taking on Newcastle United in another thriller clash on August 16. Following this, Fulham will kick off their new campaign with a clash against Brighton. 

Sunderland will be playing their first Premier League match against West Ham at their home, while Burnley will make a trip to Tottenham for their opening fixture.

Sunday will see two blockbuster matches taking place where the reigning FA Cup champions, Crystal Palace, will start their campaign with a clash against Chelsea, and Manchester United will host Arsenal at Old Trafford in their tournament opener.

How to watch Premier League 2025/26 season

When does Premier League 2025/26 season start?

The 2025/26 Premier League season starts on August 15, 2025, with what has become a typical Friday-night game to kick things off. This year, Liverpool will host Bournemouth at Anfield, with the match kicking off at 8:00 p.m. BST which translates to 3:00 p.m. ET in U.S/Canada. 

The season finishes on May 24, 2026, with all 10 games kicking off at the same time as usual. After this final day, players will have less than three weeks to prepare for the start of the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Key Premier League dates for 2025/26 season

One of the blockbuster matches in the opening weekend will bring a clash of two title contenders for this season, where Manchester United will face the Gunners at Old Trafford; a crucial season-defining game for both teams is on the card.

The reigning Premier League champions, Liverpool, will face last season’s runner-up, Arsenal, in a thrilling encounter on August 30, probably a match that has the potential to define how both teams will go this season during the rest of the season. 

The much-anticipated Manchester derby will take place on September 13, with Manchester City and Manchester United clashing in a high-stakes encounter. Both the clubs ended their last season being trophyless; they are aiming to start fresh with probably this match being their much-needed morale-boosting clash.

September 20 will bring two crucial encounters to the table, with the Gunners facing the Cityzens in a high-voltage encounter, and in another clash, the reigning UEFA Conference League champions, Chelsea, will take on the last season’s EPL champions, Liverpool. The battles of champions will bring plenty of drama and chaos for the fans. 

The high-stakes encounter between Liverpool and Man United can be a title-defining clash for these two biggest London-based clubs, posing the challenges the match will bring and nerve-shaking excitement for the fans.

Later in the first week of January, we will have another two blockbuster matches, with Manchester City clashing against Chelsea and another high-stakes battle between the top two teams, Arsenal and Liverpool. Pep Guardiola has made some recognizable changes this season, bringing some new faces to the squad and aiming to implement their newly formed key strategies after ending their last season in a disappointing season.
