Pregnant wife of former Knicks first-rounder thanks unsung hero after surviving shark bite

Sports journalist Eleonora Boi is out of harm’s way after surviving a shark attack in Puerto Rico. The pregnant wife of former New York Knicks first-round selection Danilo Gallinari shared in her appearance on Good Morning America that the incident left her “traumatized.”

However, her survival wouldn’t be possible if not for a woman who helped put pressure on Boi’s thigh. Boi has nothing but gratitude to her “angel,” whose name they failed to get.

“She was an angel. Danilo was with me, and she helped so much. I would like to say thank you to this woman, because I don’t know her name, and I just want to say thank you to her, because she helped a lot,” Boi said.

Boi and Gallinari were in Puerto Rico because the 37-year-old forward played for Baloncesto Superior Nacional’s Vaqueros de Bayamon. The successful stint culminated in Gallinari’s first-ever championship at any level.

Before playing in Puerto Rico, Gallinari suited up for eight teams in 16 NBA seasons. After the Knicks, the Italian forward’s NBA journey had stops in Denver, Los Angeles (Clippers), Oklahoma City, Atlanta, Washington, Detroit, and Milwaukee.

Meanwhile, Boi recalled that she was in waist-deep water with her two children when she felt pain in her thigh. She screamed for help, prompting Gallinari to run to his wife. After the initial help, Boi was brought to a hospital where doctors ran several tests.

After determining that the baby is safe, the doctors operated on Boi. While she’s on her way to full recovery, Gallinari’s wife is still making regular visits to the doctor. Boi is expected to deliver their next child in November.
