The Green Bay Packers are still in desperate need of another starting-caliber pass rusher. Though the team ranked in the top ten in sacks last season, the Packers lacked high-end production from their edge rushers outside of Rashan Gary in 2024.
General manager Brian Gutekunst could be looking to address the position in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft, but Pro Football Focus’ Thomas Valentine proposes a blockbuster move that would send Cincinnati Bengals edge rusher Trey Hendrickson to Green Bay.
Valentine’s trade package has the Bengals dealing Hendrickson and a 2025 fifth-round pick, slated at No.153 overall, to the Packers for a 2025 second-round pick, slated at No.54 overall.
“If the Bengals are serious about trading Hendrickson, the Packers might be the team to take the plunge, sending the No. 54 pick for the talented edge defender and the No. 153 pick. He would instantly upgrade Green Bay’s pass-rushing room,” Valentine wrote.
Hendrickson has been involved in trade talks the entire offseason, as the All-Pro edge rusher is seeking an extension from the Bengals, but it seems both sides are far apart on a deal. Cincinnati gave Hendrickson permission to seek a trade in March, so there is a high chance he will get moved if a contract extension can’t be agreed to.
Green Bay would be a logical landing spot for Hendrickson, as the Packers need help on the defensive line and will be one of the premier contenders in the NFC in 2025. Hendrickson would immediately elevate Jeff Hafley’s defense and thrust Green Bay into the Super Bowl discussion.

If the Packers can pull off a trade for Hendrickson and sign him to an extension, it would be a fantastic win-now move from Gutekunst. Spotrac projects Hendrickson’s new deal will be worth $62.9 million over two seasons, so adding him won’t be cheap. However, Green Bay is in their Super Bowl window, and Hendrickson could be the missing piece that pushes them over the top.
