Players set to make debuts in Barcelona’s 2025/26 season

Barcelona had a great run in the 2024/25 campaign, winning a treble of domestic trophies in Hansi Flick’s debut season as head coach.

The Catalan club missed out on lifting the Champions League trophy with their elimination from the semifinal, and now, Flick & Co. plan on further strengthening their squad ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Barcelona have three pre-season friendly games scheduled prior to the beginning of the upcoming season.

Hansi Flick is expected to bring on some new faces on the pitch, which would include new signings and academy players. They are expected to make their competitive debuts as Barca start their new campaign with their opening La Liga match against RCD Mallorca on August 16.

Joan Garcia

Barcelona have signed goalkeeper Joan Garcia from Espanyol on a six-year contract after triggering his €25m (£21.3m) release clause.

The Spanish giants have also recently extended Wojciech Szczesny’s contract, which is now valid until the summer of 2027.

Barcelona’s first-choice goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen was sidelined for the majority of the last season due to injury, and several recent reports have suggested that Garcia might go up in Flick’s pecking order over the team’s captain.

After receiving his first-team call-up at Espanyol, Garcia has made 67 appearances, maintaining 21 clean sheets and conceding 72 goals during his four-year tenure there.

Roony Bardghji

Earlier this week, Roony Bardghji signed for Barcelona from Copenhagen for a reported initial fee of around €2m ($2.35m). His contract with the Catalans is valid until the summer of 2029.

The 19-year-old winger is expected to be a part of Barcelona’s pre-season games, and his performances in those will decide his stance in Flick’s squad in the upcoming season.

While there is a chance that he will be put in the reserve team for a while in the beginning, Bardghji could make his first-team debut in the 2025/26 season.

Some of Barcelona’s academy players could also make their first-team debut in the upcoming campaign, namely Landry Farre, Ibrahim Diarra, Ebrima Tunkara, Jofre Torrents, Guille Fernandez, Juan Hernandez, and Pedro Fernandez.

Barcelona have been linked with making more signings this summer. Their reported transfer target list has Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman, and Liverpool’s Luis Diaz.

These players would also be donning the Barcelona shirts in the 2025/26 season if their potential deals get finalized.
