Even as the calendar flips to June, the Pittsburgh Steelers still don’t have a viable long-term option at quarterback. The QB room of Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson, and Will Howard is the most uninspiring in the league and dramatically drops the ceiling of this squad.
For months, Aaron Rodgers has been the presumptive short-term fix, but what’s the obsession with an uncommitted 41-year-old who is coming off the worst year of his career?
If the team wants to escape the depths of mediocrity, they have to take a massive swing, and one analyst is suggesting they target a disgruntled gunslinger looking for a change of scenery.
Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton made the pitch for Pittsburgh to roll the dice with former Titans starter Will Levis.
“Regardless of Aaron Rodgers’ decision to play for the Steelers or retire, Pittsburgh should offer a fourth-round pick for Levis,” Moton wrote. “If the Steelers finish the 2025 season with a mediocre record and Rodgers only sticks around for one year, they would at least have an experienced young starter in Levis, whom they can develop for the long term. At 25, Levis, with his big arm and mobility, has far more upside.”
Levis was a perfect tank commander for Tennessee last season, masterfully leading the franchise to the first overall pick.
He occasionally flashed moments of brilliance with his undeniable arm skill during the 2024 season, but the constant blunders at inopportune times hindered his potential.
Levis’ stock is at an all-time low, and it probably wouldn’t take much to acquire the former second-rounder out of Kentucky.
Perhaps a move to the AFC North power, where they can try to trim out the mistakes and harness his raw talent.
