After losing on Saturday, the Philadelphia Phillies had lost two of the first three on the road at the Washington Nationals. The Phillies, who started the day five games up in the National League East, were not ready to lose a series to the bottom team in the division.
That is where the Phillies found their bats. Philadelphia scored six runs in the first two innings. Despite seeing Washington tie the game at 6, the Phillies dominated the middle innings, scoring the next five runs, and holding on to 11-9 victory.
Philadelphia picked up two home runs in the game. Nick Castellanos hit his 16th in the sixth inning, and Alec Bohm hit his ninth early in the game. The Phillies had 12 hits in the game, with four players pikcing up two of them.

The offense picked up the slack for starting pitcher Aaron Nola. He was not good, retiring just seven batters, allowing seven hits, and six runs. The bullpen picked up the slack and got the final 20 outs of the game.
Philadelphia is now 71-53, and up 5.5 games on the New York Mets, who are finishing their series Sunday night. The Phillies will look to keep the winning going, as they host Seattle for a three game series starting Monday. After taking Thursday off, the Phillies and Nationals will play again, this time in Philadelphia.
