This year’s PGA Championship feels a little more exciting. What is the PGA Championship cut line in 2025?
- Projected cut line: +1
- Players inside the cut line: 77
With the first round almost wrapped up, it is projecting as the cut line will be at +1 for the weekend.
Quail Hollow gets a lot of hate when a major is played there because many consider it too easy a course. This was evident in 2024 when the cut line was -1. For reference, the cutline at the Masters was 2-over this year and a whopping 6-over in 2024.

PGA Championship cut rules
The PGA Championship starts out with 156 players, but after the first two rounds, the field will be trimmed immensely. After 36 holes at Quail Hollow, this year’s field will be dropped to the top 70 golfers and ties, potentially eliminating more than half of those who started the tournament.
This differs from the typical cut rules. Usually, the PGA Tour cuts the field down to the top 65 and ties, and the Masters took it a step further and dropped to the top 50 and ties this year.
How many players make the cut at the PGA Championship?
156 golfers started the 2025 PGA Championship. After two rounds, the field will drop dramatically down to the top 70 and any ties. The remainder of the field will be eliminated from contention and will have to watch the action play out like the rest of us.
Last year, 75 players missed the cut after the second round.
