Pep Guardiola has hinted that Man City star midfielder could return to the pitch soon after missing in action for the majority of the ongoing season.
Man City have been riddled with injuries for the better part of the ongoing campaign, and currently have five players sidelined. Their injury woes have also affected their form this season.
Guardiola’s squad will be locking horns with Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday, April 27, at Wembley Stadium.
Now, ahead of the clash, Guardiola has provided an update on Rodri that will bring some joy to the Citzyens.
What did Pep Guardiola say about Man City ace Rodri?
Rodri suffered a cruciate ligament tear in mid-September last year and has been out of action ever since. The Ballon d’Or winner was able to make only three appearances prior to the injury and was initially ruled out for the rest of the season.

Many suggested that Rodri’s absence has a big part to play in Man City’s struggling form this season. And now Guardiola has mentioned (comments via Manchester Evening News) that the 28-year-old is back in training and while he is willing to return to action, the Catalan coach is waiting for a ‘green light’ from the medical staff.
“Every training session he’s doing with us so he’s doing really well but I don’t know. Rodri wants but the doctor will tell me if I have a green light to give him some minutes. I will rely on the doctors,” said Guardiola.
Guardiola also claimed that despite being sidelined, Rodri has been of help to others in the squad during training sessions and half-time breaks.
“I love it. I always say to the guys who don’t play I allow them to be a manager. The role of holding midfielder Rodri knows perfectly and he can help the guys there. It’s the way we create teams where the guys who are injured or not playing can help the guys who are playing,” he added.
While an exact date has not been announced yet, it seems Man City might finally have Rodri back on the pitch soon.
