The Pittsburgh Penguins just added a talented goalie to their organization.
On Sunday, the Penguins announced they had completed a trade for Arturs Silovs from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for forward Chase Stillman and a fourth-round pick in 2027.
Silovs is 24 years old and was just playoff MVP in the American Hockey League, where he led the Abbotsford Canucks to the Calder Cup trophy.
Silovs is a native of Latvia who was drafted by Vancouver in the sixth round of the 2019 draft.
He has played in 19 total NHL games across three seasons and has an 8-8-2 record. He has saved 88% of shots at the NHL level with a 3.13 goals against average.

This past season at Abbotsford, he had a 2.41 GAA and a 90.8 save percentage.
Tristan Jarry remains the top man on Pittsburgh’s goalie depth chart, but Silovs will provide some good depth.
And if the Penguins happen to have some positive development cards to play, maybe Silovs can turn the talent that helped on that great AHL playoff run into a guy who can really contribute at the NHL level.
