The Philadelphia 76ers are doing everything they can to make sure their top players are ready for the 2025–26 NBA season. After an injury-riddled campaign last year, the team is keeping a close eye on the health of their star trio: Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Paul George.
Paul George undergoes knee procedure, eyes return for 76ers
All three missed significant time last season, which limited their chances to build chemistry on the floor. The group only managed to play 15 games together. Despite that, the organization remains optimistic about what they can achieve at full strength.

On Monday, ESPN’s Shams Charania provided an important update. Paul George underwent a successful arthroscopic procedure on his left knee, which he injured during a recent workout. The surgery is considered minor, and George is expected to begin rehab immediately.
A team official confirmed that George will be re-evaluated before the start of training camp this fall.
“Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George underwent a successful arthroscopic procedure on his left knee Monday to treat an injury suffered during a recent workout,” Charania reported. “George will now begin a rehab program and be re-evaluated prior to start of training camp.”
George’s injury history has been a concern, especially after missing time last season due to lingering knee issues. He played just 41 games and posted averages of 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists. The veteran forward never looked quite like himself, especially after sustaining a hyperextended knee in a preseason game against the Atlanta Hawks.
Still, the 76ers continue to have faith in George as a key part of their title hopes. He’s expected to take on a major role next season alongside Embiid and Maxey as the franchise looks to make a deep playoff run.
The Sixers have made many offseason moves, but their success will ultimately depend on the health and cohesion of their stars. George’s rehab will be closely monitored in the coming weeks, with the team hopeful he’ll be ready to go when training camp begins.
If George returns to form, Philadelphia will have one of the most dangerous threesome in the league. The question now is whether the group can stay on the court long enough to reach their full potential.
