The New England Patriots made a significant move this offseason when the team signed free-agent wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
Diggs is supposed to come in and help young quarterback Drake Maye improve in his second season, but Diggs might only be around for one season.
The 31-year-old receiver signed a three-year, $69 million deal, but he has had some off-the-field controversy this spring, which could cause the team to cut ties with him if anything more happens.
Even if Diggs is in New England for a while, his best days are behind him, and the team is going to need to add a young receiver for Maye.
Matt Miller from ESPN published a 2026 NFL Mock Draft, in which New England is projected to take Arizona State’s receiver, Jordyn Tyson.
“Upside is intriguing when devising summer mock drafts, and Tyson has the potential to rise into the top 10,” Miller wrote. “At 6-foot-1, 195 pounds, he reminds me of Jaxon Smith-Njigba with his route-running ability and poise in space while effortlessly moving through a route tree. Tyson broke out in 2024, catching 75 passes for 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns. But drops are a problem, with eight coming on 114 targets. If he cleans that up, Tyson has the speed and route technique to be a top-10 pick and a prime target for young Patriots QB Drake Maye, who has shown franchise potential.”

In 24 college games, Tyson has recorded 1,571 receiving yards and 14 scores.
There is a great chance next season the Patriots will target a receiver high, and Tyson might be the No. 1 receiver in next year’s draft class.
