As the New England Patriots prepare for the 2025 NFL season, they have many issues they’ll need to address, and their offensive line is among the most pressing.
At this point, it would be smart for New England to prepare to bring in two to three new starters up front, at least switching out their starting tackles from 2024 – Vederian Lowe and Demontrey Jacobs.
On the interior, the Patriots actually have some potential, but it’s far from a guarantee that the group is healthy and plays well.
At guard, Michael Onwenu could stick on the right side while the left side could be a competition between Cole Strange, Layden Robinson and Sidy Sow. Center is up in the air right now with David Andrews and Jake Andrews trying to return from season-ending injuries, but David’s injury could end his career.
With all of that, New England may look to add a guard in the offseason, and The 33rd Team’s Marcus Mosher predicts that they’ll sign Teven Jenkins to a three-year deal worth $41 million.
“The New England Patriots would love to find a No. 1 receiver or a high-level offensive tackle this offseason in free agency, but that is easier said than done,” Mosher wrote. “Instead, Mike Vrabel upgrades the interior offensive line by getting one of the best guards on the market.
“Jenkins is a physical blocker who can be devastating in the run game. Keeping him on the field has been an issue, as he’s missed a lot of time since being drafted. However, Jenkins is only 27, and he would add a lot of talent to New England’s interior offensive line.”
Jenkins was a second-round pick of the Bears in the 2021 NFL draft out of Oklahoma State, but as Mosher mentioned, he’s missed 23 full games in his four seasons.
With all of the cap space that the Patriots are projected to have, spending a good chunk on the offensive line will be important this year.
