Patrick Bamford could join high-flying Championship side

Patrick Bamford has been a free agent since leaving Leeds United at the beginning of this season. However, his wait for a new club could soon be over.

The striker was recently linked with a move to the La Liga side Getafe, but the transfer never materialized.

A return to the Championship could be Bamford’s best bet; a division that he won twice with Leeds United.

Last season, Bamford played 17 times in the Championship for Leeds without scoring or making an assist.

Bamford did struggle with a muscle injury during the campaign, but a top Championship club could be willing to take a chance on him.

Mike McGrath of the Daily Telegraph posted on X: “Patrick Bamford seen at Coventry City training ground.”

Could Patrick Bamford join Coventry City?

There is a link between Bamford and Coventry’s manager Frank Lampard, as they were at Chelsea as players together.

Lampard is a Chelsea legend, whilst Bamford never played for the first team and was sent on loan to six different sides during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Coventry are currently top of the Championship, and already have strong centre-forward options in Haji Wright, Brandon Thomas-Asante, and Ellis Simms.

However, Bamford’s experience of the Championship could play a part in Coventry’s bid for promotion to the Premier League.
