As the Cleveland Guardians continue to try and hunt down the Detroit Tigers for control of the American League Central, some individual stars on the Guardians are looking to lock in some accolades for themselves.
Voting for phase one of the 2025 MLB All-Star has been completed, with reigning MVPs, New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge and Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani being the first two named to the Game, to absolutely nobody’s surprise, after being the leading vote-getters in the American and National League, respectively.
The finalists were then named for the rest of the teams by position, and for the Guardians, Jose Ramirez will jockey with Boston Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman for the starting third baseman spot, and outfielder Steven Kwan was named as a finalist alongside Detroit Tigers Riley Greene and Javier Baez, as well as Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout, who despite the few weeks he’s missed during the 2025 season, will still be looking to be named to his 12th career All-Star Game.
The outfielders will be fighting for the last two starting spots after Judge was automatically named a starter.
Last year’s All-Star Game in Arlington saw both Ramirez and Kwan as starters in their respective positions, in what was their sixth and first All-Star namings.
The third baseman out of the Dominican Republic has seen business as usual in 2025, batting .317 with 13 home runs and 38 runs batted in through this point in the season.
Steven Kwan, a three-time Gold Glove Award winner, is also batting over .300 with a .306 average to go along with six home runs and 24 RBI.
