Padres’ star receives high praise for his elite glove in the outfield

The San Diego Padres have been a fun team to watch this season. While all eyes were on their Los Angeles Dodgers, the Pads have kept within striking distance, giving the Blue Crew a run for their money.

San Diego has been led by their usual stars of Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado. The two have combined to hit 38 home runs and 130 runs batted in. The club has also gotten elite pitching this season, posting a team ERA of 3.52, which ranks them second across Major League Baseball.

The defense has also been stellar for San Diego with guys like Jackson Merrill, Xander Bogaerts, and Luis Arraez. However, Tatis Jr. is having another great year in the outfield, being ranked as the best defensive right fielder according to Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter.

“Tatis has been an elite defensive right fielder from the moment he moved off shortstop, winning Gold Glove and Platinum Glove in 2023. Injuries slowed him down in more ways than one a year ago, but he is back to full health and likely on his way to another Gold Glove.”

Fernando Tatis Jr. recently showed off elite defensive capabilities against the San Francisco Giants

Fernando Tatis Jr. showed off his amazing defensive capabilities on Wednesday in a game against the San Francisco Giants. With Rafael Devers at the plate, the three-time All-Star robbed the veteran slugger of a home run.

He has now robbed three home runs thus far, which makes him the MLB leader. There are not many who have the feel for the outfield wall like he does, which is insane when you remember the outfield was not his primary position coming into the league.
