On Monday, San Diego Padres slugger Luis Arraez reached a major milestone after registering his 1,000th career hit during the game against the Baltimore Orioles. In the seventh inning, Arraez squared up the breaking ball, dissecting the middle infield for a base hit to kickstart the offense as the team trailed 4-3.
This was Arraez’s third hit in the game as he also capitalized on the previous two plate appearances. while driving in a run. Arraez’s hit prompted the Orioles to replace Dietrich Enns with Rico Garcia. The Padres couldn’t capitalize on Arraez’s one-out single as Manny Machado lined out to left field while Ryan O’Hearn struck out swinging to end the inning.

He started the ball game with a hit as well.
Luis Arraez on challenging August
While Luis Arraez may have achieved a major milestone, he’s in a slump. He had a challenging August, hitting just .233 with a .577 OPS. This has led to questions being raised regarding his spot in the lineup.
“I’m a human,” Arraez said prior to Wednesday’s game. “Every player has a bad year, bad weeks, bad months. I just try to work hard every day, do the little things to help the team win. The good thing is we’re winning.”
Padres manager Mike Shildt gave Arraez a much-needed day off last week after he nearly played every inning of August despite his slump. During his absence, trade-deadline acquisition RamĂłn Laureano logged time in the No. 2 spot.
