The Green Bay Packers have yet to make a move with star cornerback Jaire Alexander. While he remains on the roster, it has become clear that the Packers still plan to move on from him.
Brian Gutekunst could be holding onto Alexander as the 2025 NFL Draft approaches as he looks to trade him. If they cannot move him, it seems likely that Green Bay will end up cutting the star defensive playmaker.
Alexander is still capable of playing at an elite level. Unfortunately, in each of the last two years, Alexander has only been able to play in seven games apiece. There is frustration that has built up from the organization about the 28-year-old cornerback never being available to play.
During the 2024 season, Alexander showed that he can still play at an extremely high level. He totaled 16 tackles, a fumble recovery, two interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and seven defended passes in just seven games. It seems like a team would have interest in trading a later round pick for him at some point.
All of that being said, the Packers are doing their due diligence on potential replacement options.
Nate Hobbs was already signed in free agency to a four-year, $48 million contract. He is expected to become a key part of the Green Bay secondary in 2025. Now, the Packers are showing interest in a clear Alexander replacement.

According to a report from Bill Huber of Green Bay Packers on SI, the team is set to meet with East Carolina standout cornerback Shavon Revel, who is one of the best at his position in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft.
“East Carolina’s Shavon Revel, one of the most talented cornerback prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft, will have a predraft visit with the Green Bay Packers next week, according to a source,” Huber wrote. “Revel is a potential first-round pick; the Packers almost certainly would have to take him at No. 23 rather than waiting for their spot at No. 54 of the second round.”
Revel is coming off of a tough 2024 season with East Carolina where he only played in three games due to a torn ACL that he suffered in practice. He recorded eight tackles, two interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and two defended passes in the three games he did play.
Standing in at 6-foot-3 and nearly 200 pounds, Revel is a strong and physical corner with excellent size. He’s a more than capable playmaker.
If Green Bay wants to make a move in the draft to replace Alexander, drafting Revel at No. 23 overall would be a great way to do it.
