Packers’ Matt LaFleur gives honest take on Jordan Love, Matthew Golden

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has a new target for the 2025 NFL season after the front office drafted Matthew Golden in the first round, 23rd overall, this past offseason. As a result, training camp and the preseason have allowed the two to develop chemistry.

The Packers have a lot of depth at the receiving group, but they don’t have a No. 1 wideout that stands above the rest. This scenario allows Golden to potentially take that top spot among the receivers.

Heading into the new season, one of the storylines for the Packers will be whether Golden makes an immediate impact or whether there’s a learning process as he transitions from college to the NFL.

Matthew Golden, Jordan Love chemistry latest

In a recent appearance on the “Up & Adams Show,” Packers head coach Matt LaFleur shared the latest regarding the chemistry between Love and Golden as the two look to hit the ground running this season.

“I’d say [the Love and Golden connection is] strong, but I think there’s a long way to go,” LaFleur said. “So I think he’s just scratching the surface. Obviously, rookies, they’re drinking water through a fire hose, so to speak. There’s just a lot of information that we throw at these guys, a lot of different concepts.

“And quite honestly, a lot of it’s just you want to see how these guys respond and how much they can retain. I think he’s done a really good job. Football is important to him. Anytime you get guys that are talented in football and football is important to them, they got a great chance of reaching their full potential.”

Green Bay have plenty of wide receivers for Love to work with as they aim for a return to the playoffs. Still, whether it’s Golden or someone else, finding a true lead receiver could go a long way in boosting the offense.
