Packers’ Josh Jacobs reveals his one goal for 2025 season

Since Josh Jacobs made his NFL debut in 2019, only Derrick Henry has rushed for more yards (9,130) and more touchdowns (84) than Jacobs (6,874 yards and 61 touchdowns) has in that time. But in those six seasons, one major accomplishment that has eluded Jacobs has been any semblance of postseason success. Only twice has Jacobs played in the postseason, and each time things came to a screeching halt in the Wild Card Round.

But with Jacobs’ move last offseason from Las Vegas to Green Bay, postseason success was expected to follow. The former Alabama standout was joining a still young but ready-to-contend roster, but the soon-to-be Super Bowl champs were in the Pack’s way in the opening round of the Playoffs, sending Jacobs home early once again.

Now as Jacobs prepares to enter his second season with the Packers – and his seventh in the National Football League – there is just one thing he has on his mind.

“I feel like I had a good year [in 2024], but I feel like I still left a lot on the table,” Jacobs said recently, according to Bill Huber of Sports Illustrated. So, for me, it’s just trying to come in and chase that No. 1 spot and raise a Super Bowl [trophy] at the end of the day. That’s the only thing that’s really on my mind.”

While that 22-10 loss to Philadelphia during Super Wild Card Weekend last January could’ve easily caused Jacobs and his teammates to question whether they could compete at the very highest level, instead, it offered the Packers reassurance of just how close they were last year, when they were still supposed to be a year away from contending for a Super Bowl.

“Just to see the Eagles go win a Super Bowl and, in my opinion, we played them the best out of any team last year and we was banged up a lot at the end,” Jacobs said. “For me, seeing how close we are is just about figuring out what we need to do to take that next step to get over the hump.

Now, the waiting game is over now. Fans in Green Bay are hungry for their first Super Bowl title since 2011, and inside of the Packers organization, there’s a new sense of urgency that everyone is feeling to take that big step in the right direction.

“You feel the urgency, for sure,” Jacobs admitted. “Like, it’s time. It’s time. You know? For me, I’m getting, there’s only so much left, so it’s definitely time, for sure.”

Unfortunately for Green Bay, to claim the Lombardi Trophy as their own once again, they’ll first need to survive the gauntlet that is the NFC North, which projects to be arguably the best division in football in 2025.
