The Green Bay Packers are going to have a crowded receivers room this season.
They’re hoping it includes a healthy Christian Watson, too.
It might be a while. He tore his ACL in Week 18.
But Watson is in a positive mood as the offseason program has gotten underway for Green Bay.
“Definitely happy to be back,” Watson said, via Ellie French of Fox 11. “Being around the guys, it’s always a little different when you’re around the team. A little bit more life to the party. But recovery’s going really well, I’m in a really, really good spot. Just keeping the mentality there. Just working. I’ve got a couple more months ahead of me, but I’m attacking it every day. I’m in a really good spot.”

The Packers already had Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks at WR.
Then, they drafted Matthew Golden in the first round and Savion Williams in the third.
That’s a lot of wideouts for Jordan Love to choose from
Watson is entering the final season of his rookie deal. So he’ll both want to get back to try and extend his Packers career and to try and impress potential free agent suitors.

Given the standard assumed timeline on such things, Watson probably won’t be back until the second half of the season. Maybe by that point, attrition will have worked its way through some of the WR depth chart and Watson will be back at the perfect time. Or he’ll be too late and come back to no snaps.
For now, the Packers will just be happy Watson’s recovery is going well.
