The Green Bay Packers finally have their offense in position to succeed with Jordan Love under center. One of the most exciting additions is rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden, who is already making an impression on and off the field.
Golden touched hearts on draft night when he shared his emotional plans for his first NFL paycheck.
“Definitely get my grandma a house, man,” Golden said. “We lost our property a couple of years ago. That’s somewhere I grew up when I was younger. It’d be a blessing to be able to get that back for my family.”
Golden has also made it a point to get involved with the local community, embracing his new home in Green Bay.
“Starting to realize Green Bay not too big, so a lot of people gonna recognize me. But it’s a blessing just to be able to be around people that care about you … for me it’s just being able to show my face and show that I love being here,” Golden said.
Golden has already started turning heads, and expectations are high. Heavy.com’s Jordan J. Wilson even predicted that Golden could become a 1,000-yard receiver in his rookie year.

“The Packers made waves with their decision to select Golden at No. 23 overall. After an offseason filled with conversations about how the Packers ‘need’ to add a No. 1 receiver for Love, they broke from tradition and drafted the fleet-footed Golden, who caught 58 passes for 987 yards and nine touchdowns with Texas in 2024. He also ran a blazing 4.29-second time in the 40-yard dash in front of scouts at the NFL Scouting Combine. While the Packers’ logjam at receiver raises questions about whether any Packers pass-catcher will exceed 1,000 yards in 2025, Golden has the best chance to get the job done,” Wilson wrote.
All eyes will be on Golden this season as one of the most exciting rookies in the league. If he can stay focused and healthy, the Packers may have found their next star — one capable of a 1,000-yard season right out of the gate.
