What kinds of player packages could the Phoenix Suns receive for Kevin Durant?
The San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Detroit Pistons are four possible suitors for KD.

5. Durant to the Pacers
Phoenix receives…
- Andrew Nembhard
- Obi Toppin
- Aaron Nesmith
- Bennedict Mathurin (expiring)
For Indiana, this deal would border on lunacy—gutting their enviable depth for a 36-year-old superstar whose prime is fading.
Durant’s scoring and playoff pedigree are undeniable, but sacrificing four valuable players risks crippling the Pacers’ long-term flexibility and bench strength, especially alongside Tyrese Haliburton and Pascal Siakam.
Phoenix, however, might salivate at this package’s sheer volume of talent. Nembhard’s playmaking, Toppin’s athleticism, Nesmith’s two-way grit, and Mathurin’s scoring potential offer immediate depth and future promise.
Yet, the Suns might also hesitate, as this haul lacks a singular prospect with superstar ceiling (like Detroit Pistons’ Ausar Thompson) capable of anchoring their post-Durant era alongside Devin Booker.
While the trade aligns with Phoenix’s need to retool around Booker, the absence of a transformative talent makes this a bad trade idea for both sides.
