Our NASCAR Xfinity team shutting down after Dover

The Our Motorsports NASCAR Xfinity Series team will shut down after this weekend with Kaz Grala set to race at Dover on Saturday following an eventfully catastrophic campaign with Kris Wright, who announced his departure earlier in the week.

“Our Motorsports will complete its season on Saturday in Dover, Del., with Kaz Grala behind the wheel of the number 5 Ferguson Chevrolet,” said the team in a statement. “Our Motorsports will cease operations in NASCAR racing moving forward. Thank you to NASCAR, Chevrolet, the fans, employees, and drivers, for a good ride over the last six years.”

Owned primarily by New England Modified team operator Chris Our, the team moved into the second highest level of the discipline with the likes of Brett Moffitt, Kyle Weatherman and Blaine Perkins driving the cars. Anthony Alfredo drove the No. 5 car last season and Wright drove the car this season.

Wright took a car that challenged for a playoff spot last season and averaged a 27.4 average finish. Alfredo averaged an 18.5 finish in 2024 as a point of reference. Wright was involved in nearly an incident per race and frequently drew the ire of his peers and industry observers.

The 5 car is 36th in the championship money and is out of the running for year end bonus pool money as a result of the performance this season. He failed to qualify for the race at Chicago two weeks ago.

“I appreciated the opportunity to work with Our Motorsports and to compete in the NASCAR Xfinity Series this season,” Wright said in a statement. “While I’m stepping away from the No. 5 car, I’m excited for what lies ahead and thankful for all I’ve learned during my time in the Xfinity Series.”

Wright said he is looking for his next opportunity in NASCAR.
