The Baltimore Orioles are coming off a rather poor season. They finished the year in last place in the AL East with a record of 75-87, missing the postseason by quite a bit.
They go into the offseason with a ton of question marks. One of the biggest question marks revolves around who will be managing the club in the future. Back in May, they fired Brandon Hyde after a 15-28 start.
However, that is not the only question the team faces. They do not have the strongest starting rotation, especially with injury concerns for Grayson Rodriguez, while much of the rest of the rotation currently consists of prospects or pitchers who would be considered backend of the rotation for other teams.
The Orioles will go into the offseason looking to acquire one or two starting pitchers. Luckily for them, there are some intriguing free agents and some players who could be had via a trade.
Orioles-Reds trade rumor sends ace Hunter Greene to Baltimore
The Athletic’s Jim Bowden recently came out with a list of potential trade candidates once the season comes to a close. Here, he lists Hunter Greene as one of those options.
“One thing I do know, if they want to trade him, the Reds could get a huge return with the amount of years remaining, and the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Orioles, and San Francisco Giants are likely to be interested.”
Greene is under team control through the 2029 season after signing his extension with Cincinnati in 2023. With this amount of team control, it would be on Baltimore to put together the best package available to secure what could be the ace of their staff for the next few years.
