Usyk (22-0) is a two-division undisputed champion, quickly conquering heavyweight after clearing out the cruiserweight division. While a unified champion now, the Ukrainian looks to win back the IBF title, if he can get past Fury in the rematch.
Usyk knocked Fury to the floor in the first fight, but the judges almost didn’t award him the win. Earning a split decision victory, the odds are stacked against Usyk in the rematch. He will look to make a point on fight night in Saudi Arabia, including trying to end the contest earlier this time.
“It certainly won’t be easier. I think it will be even more difficult. I always set myself up for a hard fight,” Usyk told Daily Mail. “I get pumped for such things. I don’t need it to be easier. Diamonds cannot be found in the ease because they are not there. You cannot succeed without hard work. Everything that is given easily does not grow well.
“Against Fury, it wasn’t me who decided this – it was the heavenly virtues who decided this was the way I would win [decision not KO]. But, if I have an opportunity to knock out Tyson Fury in the rematch, I will take it.”
Fury’s (34-1-1) suffered his first career loss against Usyk. The Brit competes twice in a year for the first time since 2022. Motivated, “The Gypsy King” looks to return to the top of the division by beating the one man in his way of boxing immortality.
