OKC Thunder vs. Sacramento Kings: OKC looks to bounce back after ninth total loss

After suffering their ninth total loss of the season to the Golden State Warriors Wednesday night 116-109, the Oklahoma City Thunder look to get back on track with a victory on their home court.

This time around, Loud City will be facing a somewhat underperforming Sacramento Kings team that is in the midst of some heavy trade rumors surrounding their franchise point guard.

Time and Location

The OKC Thunder will take on the Sacramento Kings at the Paycom Center today, Feb. 1, at 8:00 PM EST/7:00 PM CST as well as on FanDuel Sports Network – Oklahoma.

Lineups

For the Thunder, here is what Mark Daigneault should have as his starting five:

Position: Name: Number:
Point Guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 2
Shooting Guard Cason Wallace 22
Small Forward Lu Dort 5
Power Forward Jalen Williams 8
Center Isaiah Hartenstein 55

As for the Kings, this should be their potential starting unit:

Position: Name: Number:
Point Guard De’Aaron Fox 5
Shooting Guard Malik Monk 0
Small Forward Demar DeRozan 10
Power Forward Keegan Murray 13
Center Domantas Sabonis 11

Injuries

For Oklahoma City, Alex Caruso is out with an ankle injury he suffered early in Wednesday’s contest. Chet Holmgren (hip), Ajay Mitchell (toe), and Nikola Topic (ACL) are all out as well.

And for Sacramento, their only player is listed as day-to-day with Doug McDermott having an illness.

What to know

The last time these two teams played one another was back in late November where OKC won pretty handily, 130-109. Headed by the All-Star duo of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams, the co-stars combined for 65 points, 16 assists, and eight rebounds.

Now, SGA is coming off of yet another insane performance with 52 points, three boards, and four assists. With the Kings ranking 17th in the league in defensive rating, Shai and his Thunder squad should be in a good position to get themselves back in the win column.

Even more so due to the fact that star point guard De’Aaron Fox has requested a trade from Sacramento. A one-time All-Star and member of an 2022-23 All-NBA team, Fox has been the face of the Kings since he was drafted all the way back in 2017.

It will be interesting to see where Fox will end up with the trade deadline quickly approaching. For Thunder fans, they should hope he doesn’t join a great contender, as that will make OKC’s trip to the finals even tougher.
