Oilers’ goalie depth takes a hit as 31-year old signs in Sweden

The Edmonton Oilers still have big goalie question marks.

They know one guy who won’t be back in their organization, though.

Collin Delia, who spent the 2024-25 season at AHL Bakersfield, has signed a contract with Sweden’s Brynas IF, according to a team press release.

This will be Delia’s first overseas hockey contract. He was an unrestricted free agent that had yet to be re-signed by Edmonton or signed by any other NHL team.

At 31 years old, Delia joins the reigning SHL regular season champions.

Delia is a California native who played junior hockey in Texas and then spent his college career at Merrimack.

He began his pro career in the Blackhawks organization. He made 14 starts for Chicago in 2018-19 with a 90.8 save percentage.

He has also been in the organizations of Vancouver, Winnipeg and Edmonton. He last appeared in an NHL game for the Canucks during the 2022-23 season, when he made a career-high 20 appearances.

With Bakersfield in 2024-25, Delia had a 12-11-5 record.

In Sweden, Delia will team with another former NHL player, Erik Kallgren, on a solid goalie depth chart.

Meanwhile, back in Canada, Edmonton will continue to look to solve its goalie woes.
