The Denver Nuggets hope to prove their 2023 title run wasn’t a one-off.
If the organization doesn’t succeed in the postseason this year, it could reunite Nikola Jokic, its top contributor, with a valuable member of its past championship squad in free agency and potentially secure another ring.
“Bruce Brown just does everything well,” Fadeaway World’s Eddie Bitar wrote Thursday.
“His 7.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, and relentless energy make him a plug-and-play option for any contender. As a free agent, Brown’s versatility on both ends should earn him a nice payday, likely in the $10-12 million range.”
“He’s the ultimate connector piece—a guy who can guard three positions, handle the ball in a pinch, and hit timely shots. The Nuggets or (Milwaukee) Bucks could be ideal fits if they can make the money work, otherwise Brown will look to see who offers the most money.”
After spending two seasons with the Brooklyn Nets, Brown inked a two-year deal with the Nuggets during the 2022 free agency period.
While the Miami product wasn’t a superstar with the Nuggets in any way, shape, or form, his commitment to defending at a high level, moving well without the ball, limiting his turnovers, and playing off two feet helped him impact contests on both ends.
In the postseason, Brown averaged 12.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game, shooting 51.1% from the field. Denver won 20 playoff contests and hoisted the Larry O’Brien trophy in June.
Unfortunately for Brown, the Nuggets didn’t re-sign the former second-round pick in the offseason, forcing him to move forward with a different franchise.
Brown, who’s suited up for the Indiana Pacers, Toronto Raptors, and New Orleans Pelicans since winning a championship with the Nuggets, could welcome the idea of a potential return to Denver.
Likewise, the Nuggets may begin to regret their decision to allow the versatile NBA champion to walk in 2023 and acquire him for the second time in his career.
A beneficial reunion could soon come to fruition in Denver.
