Nuggets guard Jamal Murray predicted to break his All-Star drought

One thing that Jamal Murray has been unable to do in his eight seasons with the Denver Nuggets is earn an All-Star selection. It might sound bizarre at first, given that he was the second-best scorer on the Nuggets when they won it all a few years back.

While it’s rare to see a championship-winning guard absent from the mid-season spotlight, Murray might be in line to break the jinx and get named to an All-Star team next season. According to NuggLove’s Will Eudy, with the Nuggets’ reshaped supporting cast, including Tim Hardaway Jr., Bruce Brown, Cam Johnson and Jonas Valanciunas, Murray is poised to cut harder, score more often and shine consistently.

“The reverse mindset would say that now that there are several more reliable scoring options positioned around Murray, he’ll actually have more room to take defenders one-on-one and dominate his individual matchups on a more consistent basis,” Eudy wrote. “I think that’s the right way of looking at this.”

Murray’s best season in the NBA?

One can say Jamal Murray had his best season in 2024-25. He averaged a career-best 21.4 points per game, while adding 6.0 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game. Last season also saw him unleashing a career-high 55-point outburst against the Portland Trail Blazers on February 12. He made 20-of-36 shots from the field, including seven 3-pointers.

He even went deadlier during the playoffs, as he averaged 24.6 points, 6.2 assists and 4.8 rebounds over five games against the Clippers.

His comeback year (2022-23) should also be noted because that season he helped the Nuggets capture their first NBA title. He averaged 20.0 points, 6.2 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game.
