Nuggets’ Aaron Gordon discusses connection with Nikola Jokic

The Denver Nuggets remain one of the NBA’s top contenders, and their retooled roster is poised to make significant noise in the 2025-26 campaign.

As training camp approaches, Denver is preparing for another season with three-time MVP Nikola Jokic leading the way. Having one of the league’s best players naturally brings high expectations, and the Nuggets will look to rebound from their Western Conference semifinals exit at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Despite suffering their second consecutive second-round loss, the Nuggets still pushed the Thunder to seven games and were the only Western Conference team to force a Game 7 against the eventual champions.

Nuggets’ Aaron Gordon praises Nikola Jokic

Looking ahead to the 2025-26 season, Denver’s expected starting five features Jokic, Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon, Cameron Johnson and Christian Braun. Gordon, who has been with the Nuggets since being acquired from the Orlando Magic in March 2021, spoke about playing with Jokic in a recent appearance on NBA Today, praising the three-time MVP’s Hall of Fame career.

“He’s amazing. It’s an experience, you know, to get to play around one of the best players, if not the best player of all time,” Gordon said. “The gravity that he has … he’s shooting a one-legged fadeaway runner and everybody in the gym thinks that’s going in.”

Jokic has certainly made a case to be considered one of the NBA’s greatest players. He has finished in the top two of NBA MVP voting in five straight seasons and has shown no signs of slowing down.

Gordon and Jokic have shared multiple successful seasons together, including an NBA championship in 2023. With the superstar big man at the helm of a retooled Denver roster, the sky is the limit for the Nuggets in the 2025-26 campaign.
