There is basically no one in college basketball like Hannah Hidalgo.
To find anyone resembling what the Notre Dame women’s basketball guard is doing statistically right now, you have to look to the NBA.
She’s putting up numbers that are pretty much unfathomable.
Hidalgo has now had 12 career games with at least 20 points, five rebounds, five assists and five steals.
The only hoopers with more of those in the last 20 seasons across the NBA, WNBA, and D-I men’s and women’s basketball are, according to OptaStats:
- LeBron James – 25
- Chris Paul – 24
- James Harden – 18
- Russell Westbrook – 17
- Stephen Curry – 13
The stats post goes on to point out that all five of those guys have played at least 1,300 games in the span to reach their 20-5-5-5 totals.
Hidalgo has gotten to a dozen games of 20-5-5-5 in just 73 college games.
Notre Dame was most recently in action on Monday in a blowout win over Central Michigan.
Hidalgo had 25 points, seven assists, six steals and five rebounds.
She had a game earlier in the season with 16 steals, which pretty much sums up how disruptive she can be defensively.
And on offense, Hidalgo does it all.
She might not be tall, but she anticipates well and is quick enough to win on the boards, too.
Hidalgo is pretty much making history every time she steps on the floor at this point. It’s very fun to watch.
