NHL insider provides $12 million Marco Rossi contract update

The Minnesota Wild have some big time work to do in locking up some key core players in the forward group. Chief among those priorities is their top forward Kirill Kaprizov. Thankfully on that front the Wild have all year to figure that out as his deal does not expire until the conclusion of the 25-26 season. The Marco Rossi extension may be secondary but it is a more immediate pressing matter.

NHL insider Frank Seravalli has provided an update in regards to what to expect for the Marco Rossi contract. He projects it will be a bridge deal somewhere in the range of $6 million for 2 seasons.

This contract gives both the player and team long term flexibility in that neither party would be bound to the other. The Wild would have the means to potentially deal him in the future if they so choose as its appeared the club has questions over his long term fit in Minnesota.

The 23 year forward had a nice breakout season in his sophomore NHL season last year, tallying 24 goals and 36 assists for 60 points in 82 games. Over the course of his 185 game regular season career with the Wild, Rossi has registered 45 goals and 56 assists for 101 points in 185 games. In the playoffs, he has recorded 2 goals and 1 assist in 6 games.

We’ll see what decision the Wild make on Rossi soon. If they do not see him as a part of the vision, he will attract plenty of interest around the NHL from teams looking for young up and coming offensive talent up front.
