Have you planned your fantasy football strategy for the 2025 NFL season? Whether you’ve mapped it out already or haven’t even started, one thing’s certain: you need Baltimore Ravens’ star quarterback Lamar Jackson on your roster.
He will be the most highly sought‑after QB in fantasy football and is poised to be the best quarterback both in fantasy and in the league, just like last season.
On Tuesday, ESPN’s fantasy football expert Field Yates explained on “First Take” why the two‑time MVP is expected to dominate fantasy football in 2025.
“Yeah, it’s Lamar Jackson, and there’s a great tier at the top of the board for fantasy this year,” Yates said. “Lamar, who had 14 games with 20 or more fantasy points last season, which was the most in all the NFL. … Lamar Jackson had 41 passing touchdowns last year. We know he has it within him to throw for 4,000 yards and maybe 40 touchdowns.”
Yates highlighted Jackson’s unique advantage as a running quarterback: “We also know he is now statistically the greatest running quarterback in NFL history. And for fantasy football, rushing quarterbacks are basically a cheat code. The fact that Lamar is the best we have ever seen in that category, and he’s a prolific passer, to me makes him the No. 1 quarterback in all of fantasy football this season.”
He added that Jackson is “a real bet to be the actual NFL MVP and perhaps the fantasy MVP too.”
In 2024, Jackson had 41 passing touchdowns and posted a career-high 8.8 yards per attempt and a 119.6 passer rating. He also rushed for 915 yards and scored four rushing touchdowns. An absolute dual-threat powerhouse.
In fantasy PPR leagues, Jackson finished over 50 points ahead of the next highest-scoring quarterback.
Expect Lamar Jackson to put up those kinds of numbers again. He’s the clear go‑to pick for fantasy managers.
