Mentor faced off with mentee, and it was the eager pupil who got the last laugh.
Jordan Love’s Green Bay Packers topped Aaron Rodgers’ Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football.
Rodgers had been the QB with the Packers for Love’s first three seasons as the first-round pick out of Utah State watched and learned from one of the all-time greats.
They got to match up in NFL action in Week 8, and Love outplayed Rodgers as the Packers outdid the Steelers.
Love’s final line was 29-for-37 for 360 yards with the three scores. Two of the touchdowns, and 143 yards, went to tight end Tucker Kraft. At one point, he completed 20 consecutive passes, and he wasn’t sacked and didn’t turn the ball over.

After the clock reached zero, Love and Rodgers took part in the customary QB embrace at midfield.
The NFL’s cameras caught the audio of the exchange.
This is how it went:
Rodgers: Good game, brother.
Love: Good s—, brother.
Rodgers: Love you, brother.
Love: Love you too, baby.
Rodgers: Keep balling.
Love: Yep. Good luck the rest of the season.
Rodgers: You too, brother.
Love: I need that, too.
Rodgers: I’m gonna send it over.
Love: Yeah, come on, love you brother.
That last comment from Rodgers is likely about sending his game jersey to Love, who planned to swap with his former teammate but didn’t do it on the field.

It’s nothing particularly profound, but it does show there are no hard feelings between this pair.
They likely genuinely want each other to succeed the rest of the season. They spent a lot of time with one another and are now both chasing playoff spots and more.
For these brief seconds on the field after the game, they got to show their appreciation for one another.
