Newcastle and manager Eddie Howe are aiming to strengthen their backline for a consistent top-four push, and Liverpool’s Jarell Quansah has emerged as a potential summer target.
The 21-year-old defender is attracting serious attention from both Premier League rivals and clubs in Germany.
In his GIVEMESPORT newsletter, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano was asked, “Will Liverpool look to sell Quansah in the summer amid reported interest from Newcastle?”
He responded: “It’s a possibility. It’s not Liverpool trying to sell him but the player attracting interest with Newcastle and German clubs keen.”
The defender has drawn significant attention following a solid Premier League campaign. He has helped Liverpool keep five clean sheets in 12 appearances, conceding only seven goals while on the pitch.
Newcastle, who valued him at £50 million last summer, see him as a key piece in their bid for consistent top-four finishes. Everton have also expressed interest, while Bayer Leverkusen may consider a move as Jonathan Tah edges closer to an exit.
Any sale would offer Liverpool’s new sporting director Richard Hughes a cash boost as they reshape their squad. Quansah is under contract until 2029.

Jan Paul Hecke is also on Newcastle’s radar
Newcastle United have also shown interest in Brighton’s Jan Paul van Hecke as a realistic summer target in their quest for a new centre-back.
With options like Marc Guehi and Ousmane Diomande proving too expensive, Van Hecke, 24, emerges as a value-driven alternative.
Hecke is known for his composure, toughness, and ball-playing ability, the Dutchman has shone under Fabian Hurzeler.
With only two years left on his contract, Newcastle could strike while interest has also emerged from Bayer Leverkusen.
