Newcastle United have shifted focus to Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman after top target Bryan Mbeumo chose Manchester United.
According to Sky Sport DE’s Florian Plettenberg, Mbeumo, who just finished a breakout season with Brentford, scoring 20 goals and registering seven assists in 38 Premier League matches, is said to have already agreed to personal terms with United.
“Manchester United want to start negotiations with Brentford shortly in order to finalize the deal for Bryan Mbeumo,” Plettenberg posted on X account.

The 25-year-old Cameroon international rejected interest from Arsenal and Newcastle, with TBR Football confirming the Magpies have withdrawn from the race, citing United’s expected £60 million [$81m] price tag as excessive.
Manchester United, despite missing out on European football, impressed Mbeumo with their project.
He’s prepared to follow the same path as Matheus Cunha, another Premier League standout who prioritized Old Trafford over Champions League spots elsewhere.

Newcastle Chase Coman as Bayern signals willingness to sell the star
According to CF Bayern Insider, journalist Christian Falk has confirmed that Newcastle are actively pursuing Coman, a seasoned France international with 58 caps.
The 28-year-old scored 7 goals and provided 4 assists in 41 appearances last season, and it is believed that Bayern are open to selling him, placing a £29 million [$39m] price tag on the winger, who has two years left on his contract.
The real hurdle could be wages. Coman reportedly earns £247,000 a week, well above Newcastle’s current top earner, Bruno Guimarães, who pockets £160,000 a week.
If Newcastle proceeds, Coman would become the highest-paid player at the club.
Barcelona are also tracking Coman but prefer moves for Luis Diaz or Marcus Rashford, per CF Bayern Insider.
Whether Newcastle pushes ahead now depends on how far they’re willing to stretch their wage structure and how urgently they want a replacement for the Brentford star who slipped away.
