Newcastle keen on signing Italian striker compared with Edinson Cavani

Newcastle United have deepened their pursuit for Moise Kean. The Florentina forward has been on tear this season and has scored 25 goals in 44 matches for Serie A side, which also happens to be his best tally of his career.

According to Calciomercato’s Daniele Longo, Kean, who has been compared to Edinson Cavani for his movement and finishing, is on the radar of multiple Premier League clubs.

However, Newcastle are “very interested” and are now “moving with greater determination” to secure the 25-year-old striker.

The Italian international has a €52 million ($59 million) release clause, active from July 1 to July 15, giving potential suitors a narrow window to trigger the buyout.

Magpies, who can offer Champions League football next season, may have the edge. SportMediaSet claims Manchester United are also considering activating the clause following underwhelming returns from Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee, who managed just six Premier League goals combined last term.

Fiorentina, meanwhile, are hoping to keep their No. 20. But their hopes have been dented after head coach Raffaele Palladino stepped down.

Moreover, Napoli have also made an enquiry, reflecting rising interest in the former Everton and Juventus forward.

If Kean chooses Newcastle, it could mark his Premier League return under vastly different circumstances.

The Magpies offer European football and a clear striker role, both of which may tempt the player to wait, even if another club triggers the clause first.
