
In an offseason that’s expected to be chaotic across the NBA, Cam Johnson is a name to look out for on the trade market.
The Nets are currently in a rebuild and may look to move off of Johnson for a star player or draft compensation.

What would Brooklyn want in return?

There is a sentiment around the league the Nets could look to land a second lottery pick by consolidating and packaging some combination of Johnson, those picks at the end of the first round and/or future draft capital.
Johnson survived the trade deadline a few months ago after having interest from contenders.

The Nets may now look to use Johnson in a deal to acquire a high draft pick after dropping a few spots with their pick in the lottery a few weeks ago.
Brooklyn has some important decisions to make this offseason, including the contract of Cam Thomas.
Thomas doesn’t feel like the type of player the Nets would build around, but shows sparks of elite basketball at times.

Sooner than later, the Nets are going to have to make some moves to craft a playoff level roster, but for now, it seems they are content with building through the draft, hence why they want a top pick in a deep draft class.
The Spurs have the second overall pick in this year’s NBA Draft and could very well look to move it.

The Spurs have been rumored to go for players like Giannis if he becomes available, but Johnson could be a much cheaper player to pick up this summer to add depth to San Antonio.
The 2025 NBA Draft will take place in Brooklyn starting on 25 June next month.
